Looking at most bicycles available online today and you’ll find that the vast majority of bikes are designed around the male physical build. On average, if  man and a woman are the same height there will still be important difference in our build. We have shorter bodies, shorter arms, and longer legs than a man of a similar height. Our hands and our feet are smaller too, our shoulders are narrower and, surprise surprise, our hips are wider than a mans too.

All of these physical differences add up and will change the way a bike feels,fits and handles for us girls.

So we need a women’s bicycle to have the following specifications in order to suit us better:

• the handlebars should be smaller (narrower, shallower drop, and shorter reach)
• the brakes and gear switchers should be sized for smaller hands
• the saddle can be wider in the rear to accommodate a woman’s wider hips.
• the weight and stiffness of the materials used should better suit a lighter-weight rider
